NEMA 4 and Other Rated Products

NEMA 4 is not the only rating available for enclosures in non-hazardous locations. There are several different NEMA ratings for specific enclosure "types", their applications, and the environmental conditions they are designed to protect against. Computer Dynamics offers many industrial flat panel display systems configured for various NEMA ratings, including NEMA 4 type. Below is a brief description of our products with NEMA ratings, followed by the definition of the NEMA ratings:

DisplayPac-OPR
The DisplayPac-OPR panel-mount flat panel computers offer an Intel® Pentium® 4 computing engine up to 2.8 GHz; choice of display size: 12.1", 15", 17" or 19" active matrix TFT LCD, touchscreen, and FCC and CE approvals. All DisplayPac-OPR systems are RoHS compliant and carry a NEMA 12, IP65 Front rating.

DisplayPac-Xscale
The PAC-Xscale, our smallest flat panel computer, offers versatility and durability to meet application requirements in any environment. With a 5.7" color TFT display, the PAC-Xscale requires a minimum amount of space to perform. The unit carries UL; Class 1 Div 2 (A, B, C, D); ATEX Class 1 Zone 2; CE Mark approvals; and NEMA 4/4X/12 ratings.

DisplayPac-Xscale-12
The PAC-Xscale-12, industrial PC, includes a 12.1" display for applications requiring a larger, higher resolution display than our original industrial PC, the PAC-Xscale. It carries UL; Class 1 Div 2 (A, B, C, D); ATEX Class 1 Zone 2; CE Mark approvals; and NEMA 4/4X/12 ratings.

Intelligence IPC
The Intelligence IPC features choice of 12.1", 15.1", or 17" AMTFT display, up to 1.6 GHz Pentium M processor, up to 2 GB DDR DIMM and meets CE, UL1604, NEMA 4, IP65, Class I, Division 2 certifications.

Panel C
The Panel C features a bright 15" XGA active matrix color TFT LCD, and is powered by a Pentium III, 1 GHz processor with up to 512 MB RAM. Built-in numeric keypad, side keys (PC control and CNC), and function keys (Fx and Alpha) provide human-machine interface. The Panel C meets CE, UL, Class I, Division 2, NEMA 4/4X/12, and IP65 (panel mount) ratings.

SeaBrite™ Monitors
SeaBrite™ flat panel monitors utilize a wide range of sunlight readable, wide temperature range TFT LCDs, brightness control technology for excellent viewability in various ambient light conditions, and touchscreen technologies for operator interface to fulfill the demands of the Marine industry. NEMA 4 certification on request.

SealTouch-15
The SealTouch™-15 is a NEMA 12 sealed flat panel computer with a Celeron® M computing engine up to 1.5 GHz; large 15" AMTFT LCD; and CE / UL 508 approvals.

Sentinel Series
Able to withstand and operate in harsh environments, these15" and 19" rugged flat panel monitors exceed the most demanding military and industrial specifications. The Sentinel Series are compliant with MIL-S-901D, Grade A, MIL-STD-167-1, MIL-STD-801E, MIL-STD-461E, and offer NEMA 4X protection on the front suface.

VAMP-WN Series
VAMP-WN Series open-frame flat panel monitors connect to any standard VGA analog source and can be configured to accept NTSC / PAL / S-Video / DVI / Composite video signals. Optional panel mount plate provides NEMA 4/4X protection on front surface.

Wolverine
This sunlight readable, industrial PC is HAZLOC approved and ruggedized for use in virtually any environment. It sports a NEMA 4 environmentally sealed enclosure with corrosion resistance. The Wolverine includes a heater option to allow operational temperature ranges down to -40° C.

Rating Descriptions

NEMA 1
Type 1 enclosures are intended for indoor use primarily to provide a degree of protection against contact with the enclosed equipment or locations where unusual service conditions do not exist.

NEMA 4
Type 4 enclosures are intended for indoor or outdoor use primarily to provide a degree of protection against windblown dust and rain, splashing water, and hose directed water; and to be undamaged by the formation of ice on the enclosure.

NEMA 4X
Same as NEMA 4 including protection against corrosion.

NEMA 12
Type 12 enclosures are intended for indoor use primarily to provide a degree of protection against dust, falling dirt, and dripping non-corrosive liquids.
